It can be difficult to leave behind familiar places and memories, especially when we have built relationships with others at our previous site within St Mary’s RC Primary School. Change can be challenging, but it also brings new opportunities. We want to extend our gratitude to St Mary’s for providing us the opportunity to be on their grounds for these many years. Our time spent at St Mary’s has left us with cherished memories that we hold dear. Being part of St Mary’s community has been a privilege. While it's sad to leave our old premises and see the cabin go (we do miss that beautiful sea view!), it is important to focus on the excitement and possibilities that await us in our new location, at Kells.
Nestled on High Road Kells, with stunning views of the Lakeland Fells, we have refurbished our once library to a new nursery setting. Housed in the cosy and beautifully renovated Kells library, this nursery combines history with modernity to create a warm and welcoming space for children to learn and grow.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at our nurseries and head office, as well as our dedicated caretakers, Mike Barwise and Gary Southam who have played a crucial role in making this transformation possible. They have truly cracked on doing as much as possible. Our thanks to RoseAnna Corcoran, Early Years Setting Manager who has pushed this on and updated our parents on a regular basis. The families and children will miss her.
At Howgill Family Nursery, learning is an adventure filled with discovery and joy. We have dedicated play areas too, and every corner of the nursery is thoughtfully crafted to inspire young minds. The inviting atmosphere encourages children to explore, experiment, and develop their unique talents and interests. We are proud to replicate successful programs from our other nurseries, such as Smile4Life, Active Cumbria, and ICAN to further enrich the learning experience.
The key to a successful nursery is its staff, and we pride ourselves on our team of passionate and experienced educators. With a wealth of knowledge and a genuine dedication to child development, our staff understand the importance of nurturing each child's individuality. We create a supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued.
We recognise that children thrive when their development is nurtured in all areas. Through a balance of structured activities, free play, and hands-on experiences, children are encouraged to explore their potential and develop a love for learning.
We understand the value of community in a child's upbringing. By fostering strong partnerships with parents, local schools, and the wider community, we create a foundation of support for each child's growth. We have paved the way for a smooth transition into formal education with our nearby local Primary Schools.
Join us as we embark on this exhilarating journey of learning and advancement. We want to express our heartfelt appreciation to all those instrumental in bringing this project to fruition, including our valued funders: Copeland Community Fund, Cumbria County Council, and the Francis Scott Fund. We extend our gratitude to our dedicated suppliers and diligent contractors - BEC, Chris Mather Builder and Plasterer, Eilbeck Plumbing, Jon Hogg Construction, Kirkland Carpets, Lynch Electrical, Michael Walker Joinery, O'Connor Fencing, and Whittam Cornish Windows.
A special thank you to the welcoming community that has embraced us with open arms, and immense gratitude to our incredible staff at our nurseries and head office. Your unwavering dedication and support have been pivotal in our journey toward success.
